Taking photos of a newly engaged couple is always a joy when they are up for having a little fun. The excitement toward the upcoming nuptials can be a great starting point for spicing up the photos that will announce your intentions!
“It’s all in the details” is true to life as much as it is to the success of a wedding photographer. I’ve often been asked, “why would we want pictures of the shoes?” Honestly, it’s very simple: The details fade. The jewelry will break or get lost. The cake will get eaten until the very last bite leftover from the freezer at that one year anniversary. The dress will get packed away or sold. You’ll want to remember. Trust me.
The harsh winters of Northwest Ohio and the surrounding areas inspire such incredible photographs. Any time the landscape is covered in snow and ice, I grab my camera to capture the beauty before it can change.
Children have an energy and a vibrancy that’s sometimes difficult to capture inside a studio – and almost impossible when they’re shouting ‘cheese’! Capturing their personality in a totally natural state will always work best, and I have the ability to to just that in any environment.
Weddings are my pièce de résistance. I have been photographing weddings and wedding receptions since age 25, and that experience has given me the ability to cater my shots to the two special people who are tying the knot. Whether you want more traditional layouts or you want to have some fun with your photographs, I will make it happen.
Part of what makes teenagers interesting subjects are their natural actions and behavior. I encourage them to be themselves, and not to worry about the camera. I can easily engage in conversation, tell stories and quite quickly, the teens begin to feel relaxed and they do their thing. The best images come with patience and communication.
When I photographs siblings, it is all about showing a connection between them, and also trying to make sure everyone is having fun in the process.
That Special Day is full of beautiful moments and so many emotions, but it’s hard to remember them all when the day goes by so fast. That’s where wedding photographers like me come in — I’m on-site to capture all the small, but special, moments that may have otherwise gotten buried in a pile of memories.

William Shakespeare once said, “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” Sometimes I get lucky with a child that can be both playful in a session, and pensive. These photos allow me to really capture the child’s facial features, especially their beautiful eyes, with incredible detail.
