Part of what makes teenagers interesting subjects are their natural actions and behavior. I encourage them to be themselves, and not to worry about the camera. I can easily engage in conversation, tell stories and quite quickly, the teens begin to feel relaxed and they do their thing. The best images come with patience and communication.
